A furnished room in Downer only 200 meters from Dickson shops. A short stagger from the restaurants, bars and Woolworths etc. Perfect location if you don’t own a car (regular buses strait to the city/ANU). Great for students. The rest of the house is fully furnished with a full kitchen to cook any cuisine (I use to own restaurants), a mass of cook books, Coffee machine, 2 fridges and a chest freezer, an abundance of cooking appliances and gizmos. The house has been recently renovated. Usually run a good vegi patch in summer but the possums seem to get too hungry in winter so have given up on that. There is a proper outdoor fire place to chill out around on occasion if you feel like it as well and a BBQ. Definitely No dogs allowed but a cat could be ok.
The Magic Chicken House is looking for some lovely souls to join it! We’re a rollicking house made of musical instruments, feathers, fruit trees, chickens (who live by their own lore hence the house nickname), blue tack and bicycle parts. THE HOUSE: - An open kitchen with dishwasher + all the kitchen furnishing you could dream of including frequent cake baking, apple juicing, Sauerkraut making, preserving, large-scale cook-ups from all different parts of the world, - Separate shower, bathroom and toilet facilities, - Big garage for storage of bicycles and pingpong tables, - That is currently also a workshop for wicked experiments - At least one Catan board at a time, - Flat roof for sunset beer // tea // gin drinking, - Open slate floor dinning area / sitting room / fantastic collection of cookbooks - Did we mention gas central heating? - And the stellar garden? WE'RE LOOKING FOR: - People who are into cheesy dance moves, - Want to live in a house which is as much as house as a community, as "home" - keen to consider communal food sharing arrangements, gardening, composting and eating radishes - have sustainable living practices (you have to love that compost) - eat those veggies (Epic Farmer's Markets is around the corner!) - into organic foods and real food in general - into foraging (Canberra is a great place for that), keen for hunting delicious mushrooms and growing your own food - hopefully going to bring some whacky art/cult/food/other practice into the house and make lots of mess and noise (but actually we're pretty into that, you've just got to not be too adverse to letting us join in), + LGBTQI friendly people, + Generally friendly and accepting, + (do I get to write 'feminists' here? I think I do) Feminists, + also no bigots ♥. FINANCES: - we have 3 rooms available ranging from $130-140 a week, - If there's another arrangement you'd like us to consider, don't be shy, ask about it. - There are seasonal bills (for electricity and gas) and an on going weekly internet bill (approx. 10$ a month). Big love, The Magic Chicken House Hope to hear from you soon.
Two story town house located on a quiet street within 5 minutes walk of Dickson shops and Northbourne Ave public transport. Also a short walk to local parks, sporting fields and ACU in Watson. The house was built less than two years ago and has a great open living space with all the mod cons (dishwasher, gas cooktop, great coffee machine, washing machine and dryer), and a lovely courtyard with outdoor setting that catches the northern sun. Rooms available are the master bedroom downstairs (couples welcome, large walk in wardrobe and ensuite bathroom), and another upstairs that includes a built in wardrobe and can easily fit a queen size bed and desk. There are two garage spaces available (shared depending on who has cars) and easy on street parking otherwise. The house has ducted heating and air conditioning to protect you from Canberra’s extremes and the bills are very reasonable.
Room available in a beautiful modern Downer house. Two blocks from Dickson shops, including express buses to the city. Updated kitchen and bathroom, gas heating and evaporative cooling. The kitchen has a dishwasher and gas stove. Lovely green garden and big windows throughout the house, including in the north facing living area. The room would fit a double bed with some room to spare, or a single bed with some storage. The room is carpeted and the window looks on to a tranquil side garden. We move in on Saturday 23, and the room will be available from that date. We'd love to have someone who could start paying rent from 1 July, even if you are not looking to move until after that.

We are looking for a happy, friendly housemate to share our home. About the room: Sunny, north facing room with a huge built-in wardrobe. It can come either furnished, or unfurnished. We have a wrought iron queen bed frame, a big wooden chest of drawers, and an antique wooden desk and chair we can offer. The mattress is really comfortable. About the house: It is a cosy and sunny house, with off-street parking, three bedrooms, a bathroom (both a bath and a shower), separate toilet, reverse cycle air-con, dishwasher, and bathroom heat lamps. There is also a big backyard with lots of fruit trees, a big organic veggie garden, a garage and bike shed, as well as a large front garden. About the area: Mount Ainslie is behind our house and you can walk up it via a ridge that also runs along in front of the house, with lots of pretty birds and kangaroos. We are in between Dickson and Ainslie shops (a 5 min ride either direction, or you can take the bus), and there’s a bus that goes to the city/ANU directly opposite our house. Otherwise, the bike path is just a few metres from our house, is a pretty ride through the wetlands and takes about 10-15 minutes to get to Civic. The suburb has nice wide streets and is a relaxing haven from the city, while also feeling very close to everything.
Modern, clean and spacious house in a great location and a modern gas kitchen which is great for cooking. Mount Ainslie reserve is just a block away so you can easily enjoy the outdoors. There is a small deck and yard for BBQ's and plenty of room to entertain or just enjoy some down time. Your room is unfurnished with built in wardrobes, its own bathroom with a large bath and separate toilet. Central air-conditioning keeps the house comfortable all year round. All the mod-cons including dishwasher and combo clothes washer/dryer.
I just moved here and I'm still setting it up and learning its quirks and the benefits of living in this part of town. It is easy to get anywhere in town from here. There are a few shopping areas in walking distance to pick from. Buses stop a few houses away if you need that. It has evidently been well looked after and has new carpet, a gas stove, plenty of hot water and the temperature stays comfortable even with no heater on all but the coldest nights. Which room you'd have is up for negotiating and it would be based on need as they are different sizes with different amounts of storage.
NOTE: Open for inspection on Saturday 12th of May at 2:30 to 3:00 pm! Send a message beforehand to double check! Very nice and large room is available at Dickson. The room has a comfortable queen size bed, computer desk, chair, 2 built in wardrobe, drawers, quilt, mattress protector, pillows, linens etc. You might bring your own stuff and replace the existing ones. The house is furnished with brand new stuff just a couple of months ago. There is a big yard (720 m2) that you can enjoy while living here. We have solar hot water and solar electricity. The house has a powerful AC that covers all the rooms and common area. It works well for both winter and summer. The house is well located in one of the best suburbs in north Canberra, 11 minutes walking distance from Dickson shopping centre and 10 minutes biking distance from Canberra Centre. You may also like to walk 35 minutes to Canberra centre or use the bus number 7 that has a stop just 80 meters away from the house. If you have a car, you can park it for free in front of the house. You should NOT be a smoker. It works the best if you like to live in a calm and clean house. Bond is 900$. Rent is 220$ p/w + costs (30$ per week) in total 250$ per week including the costs.
Hey guys, we’re three post-grad students looking for someone to fill a room in our fun sharehouse in Lyneham! Rent is $130 per week (not including bills). The apartment in De Burgh street is in a nice, secure complex with easy access to public transport (a Red Rapid stop 5 minutes walk away), bike paths, and is within easy walking distance of the city centre (roughly 30 mins walk). It has small courtyards at the front and rear of the apartment (ground floor) with high bush fences for privacy, and plenty of parking on the street if you have a car (potential to use underground visitor parking). The hot water is great, there is aircon/heating in the living room, and it will be fully furnished (except for the bedroom and lounge-room). So if you have lounge room furniture and kitchen utilities (blender, jaffle-maker, I already have a toaster) you can bring that would be fantastic! Good stove-top and well-functioning oven (electricity not gas). Both bedrooms are almost exactly the same but mirror images of each other. The available room has a sliding door on to the rear courtyard and has floor to ceiling built-in wardrobes. The room is a decent size and should be able to fit a queen bed and a small desk. The bathroom is shared, a good size and is located between the two bedrooms (the front bedroom shares a wall with the european-style laundry and the separate toilet, while the rear bedroom shares a wall with the bathroom. The bathroom has a bath with a shower over the top and glass doors (no need to worry about shower curtains!). The weekly cost of $195pw doesn't include utilities, but these are usually not too bad (as there are no gas or water bills). The only bills are electricity and internet. Internet is split evenly, so $30 per month each.

Room is definitely available from the 28th, although the outgoing housemate is flexible and this date could be brought forward. The house has central heating! (we try not to go too nuts with it to save some money). Nice backyard if you're into gardening or growing. If interested, please send me a message with a little bit about yourself and we can arrange a time to check the place out. Cheers
Easy going housemates share this light-filled 5 bedroom home in Ainslie. The house stays cool during summer and features all the mod-cons you'd expect: washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, 5-burner range, even a wine fridge. During the cooler months, you can enjoy our wood burner fireplace or our backyard fire pit. The room is well air-conditioned and heated (both central) and comes unfurnished. Best of all? The location! The house is a 2-minute walk to Ainslie shops, 5 minutes to the wilderness of Mt Ainslie Reserve and, if you enjoy a tipple, you're just an $8 Uber from Lonsdale Street. I've lived here for about a year and a half and will be very sad to farewell it. Send me a message if you'd like to know more about the house! It's available from late June, long-term renters preferable.
The house has two separate living areas, enclosed backyard, fully equipped gas kitchen with dishwasher, separate toilet and main bathroom. We are going travelling for 3 months and renting out our apartment while we’re away! There’s a few quirks as we are slowly renovating but it’s comfortable and warm and well situated to the uni, the city, O'connor and Lyneham shops. The apartment comes furnished. The room available is $160 per week. The room is small but comes furnished with a double bed, and has a good-sized built-in wardrobe. The room is available from 8th July to 30th Sept only, as we are renting it out while we go travelling. If that all sounds good please feel free to come around and see the room sometime!
The apartment is located on Northbourne/Forbes Street in a new and modern building on the fifth floor. It gets a lot of sun (nice and warm in Winter) and has beautiful views of the mountains all directions! The available room is in a 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom apartment sharing with me in the other room. The place is very modern, quiet and clean, with ample full-length windows, carpet, and is bigger than the average apartment. The available room has a lot of storage, big bath, nice carpet, and will fit at least a queen bed and space for more. Features: - own private balcony off bedroom, and another big covered balcony - main bathroom (not ensuite but right outside the bedroom) - bath/shower and shelves in decent-sized bathroom - secure underground car spot and likely full use of cage - modern kitchen with fridge, dishwasher, stove and oven - lots of storage room throughout and big lounge area - laundry with washer, dryer and trough, ample sun = quick drying too - bus stop outside the building and lots of visitor parking - walking distance to O'connor shops, Braddon, civic, ANU (and maybe Dickson if you're feeling up to it) - Good aircon/heater throughout The place doesn't have a lot of furniture (especially the loungeroom) so you will be free to bring along anything you have - I'd like to start buying more stuff (and will have some donations from friends) so we can split the cost of anything new too. I'd really like to create a nice, homely place. I'm extending this lease for 6 months and happy for longer if we get along.
