Homely three bedroom, one bathroom house in Downer with the biggest backyard you’ve ever laid eyes on. We moved in just over a year ago with a vision to create a lovely communal home after living in an apartment together and feeling awkwardly high off the ground. We are vegetarians passionate about the environment, social issues, dumplings and gin. There are plants, books, couches, cats, chats, cold brew and rad hangs to be had. Great gas heating which works a treat in the winter. Summer is another story and you may need to abandon pants and get a bedroom fan (we have house fans and every window has good blinds to keep the heat out). We share a bathroom with separate toilet; it’s beautiful blue Royal Doulton, if you were wondering. Ideally we would be looking for an all-round great housebuddy. Respectful of us, yourself, the cats, environment, communal spaces and the general atmosphere. We don’t have a strict preference for vegetarians although we are looking for people with similar mindsets. Please find below a few questions about yourself to help us understand you; Please describe yourself with three likes and three dislikes. Do you like cats? (Please indicate) 1. I fucking love cats 2. They are OK and I will slowly begin to love them 3. I’ll see myself out Why are you looking for a place to live? What do you bring to the home? (This includes furniture, skills and aspirations) How do you feel about dinner parties, guests and house parties? What is your weekly routine (e.g. do you work full time, part time and what do your evening movements consist of?)

Our home is across the road from Mt Ainslie nature reserve. Short walk to local shops, quick cycle or reasonable walk to the city and close access to buses. The house is spacious, sunny and colourful with a delightful verandah. We have lots of herbs and a little fledgling vege garden with aspirations for chickens. The room has lovely big windows, built-in wardrobe space and quirky wallpaper ;) The room also has a comfy Queen sized bed and desk. We have a warm and friendly homey home. We have interests in art, environment, politics, movement, self-development and cultural exchange etc. We tend not to watch much tv and would probably not be suitable for someone who is a large watcher. We value direct and thoughtful communication with each other and would expect that from people staying. We also value everyone contributing to keeping things around the house functional and the communal spaces clean and tidy :) Fyi the owners are sadly returning to the house sometime next year.
This is a large, bright apartment on a leafy street in the inner city suburb of Lyneham. You will be sharing with two lovely housemates in their early 20s, one male and one female. They are friendly, tidy and respectful. Dickson shops are a fifteen minute walk away and civic is only a 30 minute walk or five minutes by car. There is also good access to bus routes and bike paths. Perfect for a student or a young professional.
Looking for a new housemate for a townhouse in Ainslie, sharing with two female public servants in their late 20s. We are pretty central, 25 minute walk from civic, 10-15 minute walk to Braddon, 5 minute drive to Woolies in Dickson, but still far enough from the city and close enough to Mount Ainslie to feel you're getting away. Double garage with one car spot free. It is a pretty new place with reverse cycle AC and built-ins in all the rooms. You would be sharing a bathroom with one other, and there is an extra loo downstairs off the laundry. Bright living area with high ceilings and a great sunny courtyard out the front. Small outdoor area out the back. Low maintenance garden. Looking to rent immediately.
On offer is a VERY LARGE bedroom overlooking the front porch, surrounded by native gardens. The house is a well maintained 1950's solid brick, with most of its original charm still intact, including original 50's kitchen with a wood stove, next to the more modern gas stove. Original 50s bathroom with a HUGE oversize bath and a more modern shower. Unlike most other houses of similar age in Canberra, this place has been very well insulated, it never gets hot in Summer, and has efficient in floor central heating for the winter. There is loads of cupboard space in the bedroom and even more cupboards in the huge hallway/ballroom. Across the road is the Lyneham Shops; with a Butcher, Baker, Candlestick Maker, IGA Supermarket, The Front Cafe, Tilleys, a Post Office, Pharmacy, Dry-Clearer, Canberra's BEST kebab shop AND theres two bus routes on the doorstep, to ANU or Dickson or Gungahlin. Overall its a very spacious well equipped tidy and homely house with loads of storage space, huge low maintenance gardens with a productive vegetable patch, Plum and Pear trees and two lovely chickens in their own palatial subdivision. There is also a secure 1.5 car brick garage (could easily be turned into a studio or workshop), with a separate handy easy access lockable bicycle shed, and a gardening shed for EVEN more storage if needed.
We live in a charming townhouse in the quiet end of Braddon. Currently 2 of us live together, a male and female. We're searching for someone who appreciates communal living, rather than a person who just wants a room for their nights. If you are friendly, considerate, open minded and value a warm and fun home life, please let us know so we can arrange to meet up. Options for 3, 6 or 12 months are available. The house is fully furnished with floorboards throughout, plenty of windows and natural light, a reverse cycle air conditioner, projector, carpeted staircase, rendered walls, some storage space, an established back garden and on-site car parking. The furnished double bedroom is available NOW and includes a double bed, wardrobe, drawers, shelves and a lovely outlook over the back garden. For short term rentals (3 or 6 months) its $220 for singles or for long term rentals (12 months) its $200 for singles per week. Bills and internet are additional to rent. Rent is payable 1 month in advance. Bond is payable prior to moving in. Please provide references.
The location is great. It is 3 minutes to O'Connor Shop, 7 minutes to Canberra centre and 7 minutes to Dickson shop. Also, it is next to bus stop, you just have to spend several foot steps to reach the bustop. it is a perfect place for students or people who work or study near city centre or belconen.
The apartment has an outdoor swimming pool and our own private balcony. A 5 minutes walking distance to O'Connor shops, Turner School and a 10 minutes walk to ANU and the city. It is a rare newly built modern apartment in Canberra that is close to the city, comes with only 20 units in total. The apartment located on the upper floor. It also comes with air-conditioning. Only the bedroom is unfurnished but comes with a 3 mirror sliding door inbuilt wardrobe. The couch and TV are now replaced by two large rectangular wood table with chairs for work and study. The last utility bill was around $40 per month per person, which comes down to around $10 per week.
