Hi! My name is Alex, I am from Germany, 32 years old and will start working at Adelaide University as a PhD in the School of Physics, Chemistry and Earth Sciences on the first of July. A PhD is usually 3.5 years long, and for this period I am looking for a cosy place to stay. I am not exactly sure how flatmate.com.au actually works, so I am just going to tell you a bit about myself and my preferences when living together: I would describe myself as a relatively active person who enjoys going out on weekends to meet new people. I like going to venues and also making some music. I studied geography in Germany and, admittedly, I am not without some of the stereotypical characteristics of a geography student: I am travel-experienced, like hikes, camping and fishing, and am also a scuba enthusiast. I have had a semester outside of Germany as well (UK), but going to Australia is a first for me. I have been living in shared flats for many years during uni. Generally, I think I am easy to talk to and straightforward if something comes up. I also dislike passive-aggressiveness and think there is always a better way of handling a disagreement. In general, I prefer a reasonably clean apartment (especially regarding the kitchen section) and usually like to have friends over in the evening. However, I will probably have quite a substantial amount of work to do and have to get up early, so I have to go to sleep quite early I presume. I am not exactly sure about my schedule yet though.
