Hi, I’ve been living on my own at Gordon Park for the last 5 years and am about to be reluctantly forced back into sharing due to another unreasonable rent increase. I’m devastated, as I like my own company, space and quiet, where the place is kept neat and tidy without having to compete for kitchen space, quiet downtime, or amongst partners that overstay their welcome and change the whole vibe of the home for the paying tenants. I am otherwise pretty laid back but am 48, so I’m not looking for a party house or people that feel their lives are wasted if they’re not drinking and partying every weekend. Been there and done that. This alone makes me incompatible with many ads looking for a new housemate. I like calm, settled, non chaotic energy. I’m also looking to go back to full time study for a year to do my Masters online, so a place offering peace of mind and quiet during the week are high on my priority list. I’m looking to share with someone who is a bit settled in life, has calm energy and doesn’t feel that the household has to be ‘on the go’ and practicing a very full and active social life to feel validated. Preferably someone also in their 40s if possible. I like my space and hope you do too, (no needy flatmates) but can be social at times when I feel like it, and not expected or pressured into it. I love doggos so if you have one that would be a bonus. I will probably taken them for a daily walk to unwind and make them some dog friendly ice cream here and there. I much prefer the company of dogs to people as I get older! I’m looking to stay around the Chermside/ Kedron/ Gordon Park/ Lutwyche areas for convenient access to transport and grocery shopping. I prefer to share with only one other so that there aren’t too many different competing personalities or quirks clashing, and prefer to keep bills to a minimum. I have my own Netflix, but if you need to pay for multiple other streaming services etc and want someone to go halves, unfortunately I wouldn’t be interested in that as I wouldn’t use them and it wouldn’t be economical on my budget. I’m looking at around $300 week preferably all inclusive or happy to discuss and negotiate. Hopefully you don’t have excessive power and water bills either, as I have kept mine to a minimum to save money. If you have any questions or think your quiet low maintenance lifestyle could work with mine, please let me know. If your place has some storage space that would be a bonus. I’m looking to move in the last week by 9th August. Apologies for the long summary, but I believe in being upfront and honest, so that there are no nasty surprises later and hope for the same from you so that we can both increase the chances of things working out.
