Hi Everyone!
Nice to meet you! My name is Maikel or as everyone calls me by my nickname: ''Maiks''. Currently, I am 29 years young and I'm originally Dutch (be aware I’m quite tall with my 6’6 😊). Arrived in Australia end of May 2023.
I’ve been in Perth for almost 5 months, and currently living in an amazing shared house up in Kingsley. End of August I will start my 6 months regional work in Mandurah and therefore looking for a new shared house in the south of Perth to avoid a lot of travel and traffic jams time 😅.
I noticed whilst traveling I prefer to have a permanent home base and to operate from there for trips and adventures through Australia and Asia, instead of hopping around all the time. I’ve lived on myself for more than 8 years back home, so I have a broad experience. In Sydney, I lived in a shared house for 5 months that felt like a family, and looking for that kind of living together again. If desired, my current landlord is open to be contacted for a reference about what it’s like having me as your awesome housemate. :)
Who am I?
I have an enthusiastic, cheerful, competitive, and energetic personality. Well not constantly energetic, so don't worry, but I definitely can hype you up and make you laugh, I love to laugh, joke around (really bad jokes teller), have a good time, and most of the time I'm smiling. Being in the moment and appreciating every day you live this once-in-a-lifetime life. I raved a lot in my early twenties in the house/techno music scene, so I passed that stage of going out every weekend, sometimes I like to go out on a stroll or adventure, but something like a rave or festival only a few times a year. I LOVE music and do like to listen to music during the day, whether on the speakers or through my headphones (90's rap, hip-hop, R&B, pop, tech-house, techno, 70's, 80's, 90's general, house, funk, pop-jazz, disco, and classic rock, you name it. I listen to almost everything. With my love for music I also LOVE to dance, can you handle and be ready to lose an epic dance battle? I'll go all out. ;)
I can go on about who I am but I'll sum up the other pros and cons.
Pros:
- Works full-time in civil construction 5/6 days a week.
- Love a clean house, above average standard of cleanliness and householding.
- Love cooking. I'd rather cook a chef's meal instead of going out for dinner. My family origins come from Indonesia so I know how to make a tasty Indonesian rice table and other secret recipes I learned from my grandmother.
- Loves playing basketball! Played on the highest level back in my younger days. Don't even try, you won't win, haha! Also love other outgoing sports.
- Active lifestyle, works out a lot.
- Open for active adventures outdoors and to explore, for example, skydiving or hiking.
- I’m always in for a board game or something competitive.
Cons:
- Having a high standard of cleanliness is something you must have the same standard in.
- Likes to do a lot, and to be on my own.
- Morning person (not sure if that is a con, but might be a problem if you're not a morning person).
- I do listen, well when I had my own house, a lot of the music on the speakers, so hopefully you like to listen to music too since it gives me a lot of energy.
- Everyone has their flaws and cons, but the best way to learn somebody is by living with them.
- Doesn't know how to properly surf (only had 1 day of surf boot camp, yet)…
Looking forward to sharing a wonderful time!
Maiks
