Hi, I’m Niklas, 33, originally from Germany. I’m doing a PhD in Finance at Deakin’s Burwood campus and also work for the uni. I'm looking for a room in a two- or three-person share anywhere east of the CBD, ideally close to a park or some nature, from the inner east all the way out to the Dandenongs (Belgrave, Emerald, Sassafras) and down the bayside as far as Chelsea. I’d like to move in November if possible. My current room has no aircon and I’m honestly not built for a Melbourne summer, so a proper air conditioner in the bedroom is a must for me.

As a housemate I’m tidy (my previous landlord described me as “an exceptionally tidy tenant”), quiet, a non-smoker and I don’t have pets. I work from home quite a bit, but I keep my work and any calls to my room and stay quiet, so that will never be an issue for you. I’m also an early sleeper, usually around 9 or 10 pm on weeknights. I cook most days and I’m always up for sharing a meal or a board game now and then, but I also get that everyone needs their own space.

Outside of work I like hiking, the beach, road trips, movies and series, and the occasional night at the opera or the ballet. I’m also getting into golf. I’m a Melbourne Demons member with a season ticket, so if you’re into footy you’re very welcome to come along to a game sometimes, or watch one at home or at the pub. I’d also like to get into basketball and go to some Melbourne United games. No pressure at all with any of that, just mentioning it in case you’re keen too. I’m happy to chat about pretty much anything over dinner, sustainability and economics included. I speak German, English and Spanish.

I’ve been renting for 13 years without any issues and can show references, a stable income and savings. My visa runs until the end of 2030 and I’d like to stay in Melbourne long term, so I’m hoping to find a place where I can settle in properly.

What I'm looking for:
• Aircon in the bedroom
• A dishwasher and an oven (a convection microwave works too)
• A quiet street without much traffic or noise
• Space for my 180 x 80 cm desk, either in a study, in the living room, or in the bedroom if it's big enough
• Ideally a furnished room, but I'm happy to buy whatever furniture is missing
• Ideally $350 to $400 a week including bills, up to $450 for the right place

Nice to have: my own bathroom (a bathtub would make my week), a car space, and a bedroom I can make properly dark for sleeping.
