Lotus

Hi everyone,

My name is Lotus (yes, that's my "real" name!) and I am a stably employed psychologist who's looking for a long term lease (flexible as a room or property, single or shared) with my two (indoor, desexed, and toilet trained) cats. I'm looking for somewhere close to public transport as I currently don't drive, and am flexible with pricing. With single properties I can pay up to $450/week or $200-$300/week for a room that's the right fit. At heart, I would say I am looking for a home.

As a Hong Kong local who was born in Australia and spent their 20s in Melbourne, I came to Hobart in 2021 when I realised how weird and wonderful a place this is. I love the quiet atmosphere of the society (as well as the more active arts scene), and am looking for a calm, settled place to live with the time to slow down and chill out, but I also enjoy good company and aspects of community living (ie shared dinners and grocery runs) if we all feel up for it. It's likely that in the house I will also at times be working from home.

I really like to read (especially fantasy/gothic literature), spend quiet time in nature, and have a good chat about everything from philosophy, AI, to social justice movements. I'm a pretty big believer in community, respect, and mutual dignity, which is also reflected in the ways I care for other housemates, landlords, and shared living spaces

I am queer, neurodivergent and disabled. I don't ask for any accommodations in this outside of basic acceptance (my disability mainly impacts my energy levels and doesn't impact my work).

Generally I'm a very relaxed housemate and don't mind clearly and calmly negotiating housing arrangements in a way that are equitable and fair. I get along well with anyone who's a bit "different", enjoys living life on different pathways, and doesn't mind spending time with pets (I coincidentally also love other people's children). I am a practicing Zen Buddhist and would be delighted to live with others who also find joy in being spiritual, but understand that we all don't come from the same river (which is a wonderful thing).
