Hi, I’m Steph! A veteran share-houser, looking to move somewhere calm but friendly so I can enjoy a good balance of living with lovely people but also making sure I get enough sleep and recharge time. :)
I’ve been living in a great house in Reservoir for the past eight months, and although I’m very close with my housemates and adore them as friends, I’ve realised that I need somewhere a bit quieter overall so I get to sleep earlier and also ideally can live somewhere slightly closer to the city, to make the commute to work a bit easier going forward.
I’ve worked mostly in customer service for the past eight years, but my study background is along the lines of counselling and art therapy. I’m hoping to get back into the therapy side of things at some point, but I’ll probably be looking at finding more of an admin role for the time being.
Although I’m currently not working (though intending to start working mid-September or so), I am financially stable and always prioritise rent and bills — I take responsibility like that very seriously so I hope my current employment status will not be a dealbreaker. I’m happy to discuss this in more detail with potential housemates :).
Ideally I’d like to move around mid-September, but willing to move sooner for the right house. I am also flexible with length of stay, but something at least six months, if not 12+ months, would be great. I enjoy finding the right fit so that I can feel at home with my housemates and it is a comfortable, warm environment, even while we’re doing our own thing.
I am a bit of an introvert (in that I need alone time to recharge), but can be outgoing and social, and always value being friendly and considerate.
In my current house I’ve taken on a bit of a “house mum” role, so I guess it’d be nice to find somewhere with a more even balance in terms of how people tidy up and keep the place somewhat clean and organised, ideally without being too strictly regimented!
I love arts and crafts (especially needle felting, drawing, and upcycling), board games (particularly Ticket to Ride, Splendor, Catan, and Dominion), podcasts/learning/reading (audiobooks have been my go-to for a while, and I’m generally into non-fiction of various genres), and enjoying the good things in life (love a delicious meal, the occasional out-of-town getaway, and generally marvelling at nature!). I also have a few shows I love to rewatch from time to time… current examples are Ted Lasso, The West Wing, Community, Gavin & Stacey, and a few films too.
In a house, I would love somewhere with at least one toilet per two people, ideally. (Though not necessarily a deal-breaker, lol.) I’m most experienced with three- to four-person households but can also really enjoy other configurations… Obviously it’s all about the vibe/dynamic unique to each place!
I consider myself someone who is keen to work within the vibe of a house and honestly really value comfort and kindness. It’s nice just to feel relaxed, and not like walking on eggshells obviously… So I like having a chat when checking out a house to make sure the energy seems complementary. 😊
Other things about me… I am on the path to better health, and that has included me getting up between 5.30am - 6am most days, and heading out for a walk. I’m definitely looking for somewhere this is alright, and won’t risk waking people up. I’m pretty considerate of noise, but know some houses or levels of noise sensitivity mean this isn’t so practical!
Also somewhere I can use a hair dryer in my room, or microwave in the kitchen, without risking disturbing people. Generally I’m talking between 7am - 10pm.
But anyway, these are obviously all things I’m willing to discuss further — just wanted to put them out there for transparency!
Thanks for reading, and maybe we’ll chat more soon!
