Liam
$300/week•25 year old man
Hi there and welcome to my TED talk. About me: I’m Liam, a generally optimistic, easygoing 25-year-old guy into adventures, motorsports, and photography. I’ve just returned to Melbourne after 2.5 years living and travelling around Thailand and Southeast Asia, working freelance as a photographer. Back home, I work in the film industry, primarily in the camera and lighting departments across TV, music videos, commercials, and more. I’m extremely passionate about what I do. I enjoy gaming occasionally, but I’m really into sim racing, which comes from my love of motorsport. If you’re into F1, WEC, MotoGP, or anything racing-related, I’d be keen to hang out and watch together. Wherever I move, I really want to get along with the people I live with and be able to hangout. Good banter, movie nights, overly competitive mario kart, that kinda thing. Would be nice to become good friends :) Why I’d make a great housemate: 1. Good vibes I keep shared spaces clean, enjoy a chat, but also respect downtime. Chill, respectful, and I do my best to vibe with the house culture. 2. I come with goodies (if wanted, but don't need to bring) Fridge, washer/dryer, crockery, tableware, microwave, leather reclining couch, and a hi-fi stereo system that’ll make your Netflix nights sound better than Hoyts. 3. I’m house-trained Years of solo and sharehouse experience - I’ve never missed rent or bills and take pride in pulling my weight around the house. 4. People back me up I’ve got solid rental and character references I’m happy to share. 5. Pet-friendly Love animals (especially cats). I’ve lived with both cats and dogs and am happy to help care for them. At the end of the day, I think being a good housemate is just common sense - don’t be an ass, and communicate clearly so everyone’s on the same page. Also LGBT friendly. My current situation: I’m not currently working paid gigs since I’ve just moved back, but I’m financially secure: - I’ve got enough savings to comfortably cover 12+ months of rent and expenses (happy to provide proof), and - I receive $902/fortnight on JobSeeker, so I’ve got stable income while I get back into work. My original plan was to move in with a friend, but she had to pull out - so I’m looking for a room to move into this month. - Budget: $280/week (can stretch for the right place) - Within 20m from the city - Ready to pay bond + upfront rent immediately A few quick things: - I have a partner (she’s Thai), but we’re long distance - you won’t need to worry about regular visits. She’s planning to move here late next year, so ideally I’d like to stay somewhere 12+ months. - I ride a motorbike, so off-street parking is a big plus. - I’d love to set up my desk/sim rig somewhere outside my bedroom if it's too small to fit, but this is flexible and totally up for discussion. A few quirks: - I love tech - your house might become a smart home accidentally. - I’m handy - HDMI not working? Strange fridge smell? Lightbulb chaos? I’m your guy. If you think we’d get along, or you have a room (or want to team up on a lease), I’d love to hear from you.
