Douglas Calvillo

I am a global health addictions researcher currently working on developing recreational cannabis policy that has the potential to support social and racial justice. Outside of work, I really love traveling, though I clearly use work as an excuse (I have been fortunate to spend time studying/working in Paris, Switzerland, Morocco, Brazil, and, of course, now Sydney)! During my recent stay in Switzerland I fell back in love with cooking and dinner party/board game nights. As a flatmate, you will be lucky enough to try my (now internationally) famous chicken fajitas! All jokes aside, I really do love to share some meals and have fun in the kitchen! At the same time, I also do respect privacy and needs for alone time (I value this after a long day). I am someone who enjoys going out on the weekend, but will not necessarily be out every weekend; I also enjoy taking some slow days to explore the city, go hiking, or lay in beach! I am also an uncle to 3 nieces/nephews, told myself I will get to B2 in French this year (please keep me accountable), and cannot swim!

As a note for those looking for slightly older flatmates, my recent stay in Switzerland was with a 54 year old roommate, we had no issues and got along great! Since I have been fortunate to travel for work, I understand how to be tidy, respectful, and how to integrate when living with others from all walks of life.
