Mahesh

Hi!

I am Mahesh, a 30-year-old marine scientist with an Indo-South African background, and I will be moving to Sydney to start a PhD at the University of Sydney soon. I have spent the past six years studying, working, and living across Germany, Belgium, Italy and Sri Lanka, so I am very used to shared housing and making a home with people from different backgrounds :)

For work, I research human - nature interactions, making a living out of collecting stories from people and data from oceans and forests. Outside of work, I am into cooking, raising plants, board games, and spending time outdoors (forests and the ocean). A couple of new things I would love to try and learn are sewing and salsa :)

At home, I really enjoy cooking and experimenting with different cuisines (Indian, Filipino, Thai, Italian). I would happily cook for the household once in a while or just share a plate spontaneously. I also love relaxed evenings at home, whether that’s having friends over for dinner, playing a board game, or enjoying a movie alone.

I enjoy my own company just as much as spending time with my little community. So I am understand that people have different routines and boundaries. Happy to give and take space as needed and required :)

I am really looking forward to this new chapter in Sydney and to building a community there. In the past, some of my closest friendships have started with the people I happened to live with, so I am hoping to find a home that feels a little like that again.
