Dearest reader,
As most spoiled Western Europeans we grew up with the notion we had to thrive through clever entrepreneurship or ambitious collegiate career paths. After putting in a tremendous effort chasing happiness through these walks of life we found ourselves dumbfounded happiness doesn't come this way at all.
The COVID epidemic hit us like a bombshell. With Robin not being able to graduate due to restrictions, and Sjors being an entrepreneur in entertainment and hospitality losing most of his clients. Our entire way of looking at life evaporated right before our eyes.
Commonly we decided to stop chasing the ideal picture perfect lifestyle we've been portrayed for most of our lives. Realizing life is short and can change instantly, we knew we had to take a different approach and take matters into our own hands.
We bought a van, not particularly fancy but surely reliable, and set of on our adventure. We want to experience the world, and all she has to offer. We want to travel to all outskirts and get a feel of as many different cultures as our time permits us.
Naturally this undertaking is a costly one. We are both hard workers, not afraid to make long hours, and pick up on different skills fairly easy. We want to work to learn, we want to experience different kind of work than we are used to back home in the Netherlands. Workaway is a means for us to come in contact with hosts that might offer us an experience to learn skills we could never even imagine of mastering, whilst helping us advance a little farther from home.
We are motivated by experiences. Taste, feel, hear, and experience things we are yet unfamiliar with. Our motto could be described as 'creating memories worthy of a great campfire story'.

I am a trained scientist, having completed my academic bachelors degree in biomedical sciences at Radboud University in 2019. Currently I am enrolled as a student for my masters, but due to COVID I am gravely delayed. I am highly trained in reading and writing academic medical literature. Also, I am profoundly trained in various laboratory skills, ranging from basic wetlab to translational neuroscientific research protocols.
Understandably this might not seem as any type of skill you might be looking for, but I can help with practically any type of school work. Mathematics, physics, chemistry, paper writing, English, grand applications of any sort, school applications. Furthermore I have contacts in various institutions and can help you decipher exorbitantly difficult letters and claims of all sorts.
To pay for my studies I had various jobs. First as a simple clerk in a local supermarket or gas station. Later in my studies I started as a secretary at the emergency room at a hospital. During COVID my services were gravely needed, so I practically became a full-time secretary. I had to comfort and direct patients, process their personal information and medical complaints, deal with insurance companies, and handle the phone (which can be quite hectic in the ER). Since every hospital was understaffed during the epidemic I was also deployed as a outpatient clinic assistant for the internal medicine department. In this function I had to answer and direct phone calls, prep the treatment rooms, and manage the agenda of several doctors.
Overall I have experience with remaining calm in stressful situation, work on creative solutions while in a serious setting, and remain hospital despite any circumstances.

I’m an official jack of all trades, master in none.
Graduated as a car mechanic, but after years spend in garages I decided to pursue my dream job building decorations and animatronics for the theme park industry. I started working at P&P Projects (located in Someren, Netherlands), where I was given the opportunity to realize some of the most amazing projects. I built the most astonishing things for e.g. Nickelodeon and Disney. You can describe me as a polyester prodigy, a master in free design who upped his game with many, many electronics. I am certified installer and tester for a variety of electronic installations.
After my time with this wonderful employer I was looking for a new challenge, and started working for Novomatic. We delivered numerous beautiful casinos, projects in which I was able to unleash all my creativity in lighting techniques, machine software as well as hardware, and make up the technical drawings for the lighting constructions.
During this period I developed a taste for entrepreneurship, starting my own business Bright Illuminations, "Het licht puntje voor al uw projecten". I worked with a variety of interesting clients, brightening their homes and restaurants with the lighting they deserve.
As of now, I was finally given the opportunity to travel and exchange my knowledge with other creators. I am a dedicated and hard worker, specialized in creative solutions. No matter what hurdles come along, I always get the job done regardless of any complications.
