    $500/week38 year old man

ABOUT ME Hey, I’m Oliver — a lawyer and lecturer currently relocating back to Melbourne after a 5-year stint in Sydney. I grew up here, spent much of my twenties overseas, and bring a strong global perspective to life and work. I’m moving in September (flexible on the exact date) and looking to build a well-balanced, grounded home with like-minded people. Taking the time to bond with the right housemate is a key priority for me. I’m a high-performing professional with a deep focus on legal work and academia. You’ll often find me head-down in books or working from the office a few days a week. Outside of that, I stay active (shoutout to Project Better, and Nala as training buddy — we're open to a third), dive into random hobbies (yes, I’ve tried curing meat or buying an excess of seasonal fruit with the best jam-making intentions, that inevitably results in hours of cutting/ freezing/daiquiri making), and enjoy a good cocktail or randomly baking at night. I’m introspective by nature, but generous with my time and energy when the vibe is right. I try to squeeze a lot out of life and am in active pursuit of simpatico companions to achieve a wholesome balance. If you like the occasional night out or some live music, I will gladly get on board. A night in with the big flatscreen and whatever ad-hoc cocktails we string together is a perfectly acceptable wind down. Sporadic road trips are completely our vibe. Nala loves doing anything as long as it's in good company. THE PROPERTY Dream setup? A large multi-storey inner-city terrace, period home, or warehouse conversion (warehouse preferred) — modern amenities, loads of natural light, big bedrooms, multiple bathrooms, and ideally, a great outdoor space (bonus points for fire pits and Friday evening wines). Heating/cooling and even a fireplace would be the cherry on top. A space that comfortably accommodates a co-WFH setup is important. Budget-wise, I’m looking at up to $500/week per room for two of us (flexible depending on layout), or around $400/week each if it’s a comfortably larger place suited to three. A minimum 12-month commitment would be ideal. Collingwood and surrounding inner suburbs are my top picks. YOU I’m looking a housemate with shared values: respectful, clean, emotionally intelligent, and financially responsible. Ideally, you’re someone with a steady career or life path who’s looking to contribute meaningfully to the home—not just share rent. A thoughtful approach to communal living, the occasional shared meal, and a willingness to build a relaxed but cohesive dynamic are all high on the list. If you’re open-minded, supportive, and keen to co-create a space that feels like home (not just a crash pad), we’ll get along just fine. NALA – THE QUEEN Meet Nala — my one-year-old Italian Greyhound and resident royalty. Her name means “queen” in Swahili, and she lives up to it in every way. She’s all legs, blankets, and stolen beds. Loves a good run, beach day, or a pint at Stomping Ground. She’s low-shedding, affectionate, and completely house-trained — but she will try to convert your lap into her throne. A love for Iggies is essential. She is also very open to a new four-legged flatmate (if you come with one) and would love the right little buddy to cause a healthy dose of chaos with each day.
