About me

Hey, I'm Mike. I'm a 45 year old High School Teacher originally from the UK and have called Melbourne home for the last 10 years. I'm looking for a house share for myself and my two adorable hounds in the Western Suburbs as I start a new job in January in Werribee and I currently live near Philip Island. I'm studying for my Masters part-time and will disappear to study at points. I play rugby and like to keep fairly fit (don't worry, I'm not a crazy gym person). I love a good movie / show binge and my tastes vary from Buffy to John Wick. I have a bike and would like to cycle more, but have no fear, I don't own any lycra. I have Inattentive ADHD (all of the hyperactivity is inside my head rather than me bouncing off the walls), so I might not remember your birthday but I will remember what you were wearing and what we ate for lunch six months ago. I have a green thumb and enjoy gardening and brightening the place up with plants, although I am known as the fern killer. Now the good part, The Hounds. Delphine is a Kelpie x, also known as velcro dog because she likes to be right next to you, even though there are other places to sit. She loves to run, so if you're a runner she will be your best friend. Klaus, my big chunky boy is a Labrador x and 46kg of pure love. He is the most loving dog, thinks he's much smaller than he is, loves cuddles and snacks. I like to keep the house tidy and wouldn't be averse to getting a cleaner. I would prefer my own bathroom and would be happy to pay a bit more in rent for that.

I'm clean, tidy and conscientious. I enjoy having a yarn over a wine or a beer and because of my ADHD I know the weirdest most random facts. I have a very eclectic friendship group and get on well with people from diverse backgrounds. I would like to share a home, not just occupy the same house with people. Community is important to me but I also value my own space and will respect yours. Because of my neurospicyness, I'm good at seeing things from a different perspective, great at listening and have been known to give solid advice. I'm a good cook and would rather do that, but don't get me wrong, I love a cheeky takeaway. I have a high tolerance for spice (if your lips aren't tingling and you aren't slightly sweating it isn't enough). I'm practical when it comes to DIY and do (mostly) read the instructions. I'd like to share with people who are conscientious when it comes to paying bills and rent on time.

I work full time, but because of the nature of teaching and also studying, may have periods where you won't see me at meal times. I'm happy to cook communally although if you try to feed me pineapple on pizza I may cry (it will be the ugly Gwyneth Paltrow kind). Happy to share staples (bread, milk, cheese (very important), eggs etc)). I tend to eat a fairly high protein diet and a lot of fish, mainly because it's easy and quick to cook. When it comes to sweet treats, because of my ADHD I don't tend to have them around in large quantities as I don't have the impulse control not to eat them all. If they are yours though, I won't touch them. I have tools galore (drill, jigsaw, sander, strimmer, lawnmower, screwdrivers, socket set etc). When it comes to furniture and household appliances, I have: a PS4 and projector with surround sound, fridge/freezer, dining table and four chairs, washing machine, condenser dryer, sewing machine (I'm learning), microwave, nutri-bullet (including the important frozen margarita jug), food processor, food dehydrator and two egg chairs. I also have baking trays, mixing bowls, mugs, glasses and cooking utensils.
