Hello! I'm Kanishka, and I'm looking for a home to move into with people who have similar values and interests. I've set my move-in date as 1 Oct, but I'm in no rush. Happy to wait or move earlier for the right fit :) Same applies for length of stay - I can stay longer for the right fit.
About me:
I am 30, originally from Sri Lanka, and have been living in Australia for 11 years. I am warm, quite relaxed and easy-going. My vanilla interests include all types of music, cinematography, reading, gaming, and public speaking.
I am generally quite active. I go to the gym, cycle, run and swim. It's been a while, but I thoroughly enjoy yoga and tennis. I read heaps of fiction and non-fiction - this makes up 50% of my possessions.
I prefer home-cooked meals to eating out, I find joy in the free things in life, and I try my best to minimise my consumption and waste.
I did a Permaculture Design Course at CERES, and I'm looking for a place that has a garden. I don't have much gardening experience, so I'm looking for someone who can grow lots of food together with me, for ourselves and the community. If you're not experienced but are enthusiastic to learn and experiment consistently, that works just as well!
I'm big into connection and communication - I've lived in share houses since I've been in Australia, and I like navigating difficult situations with lots of love, care, respect and emotional regulation, and I expect the same from the people I live with :)
I've always paid my bills on time, kept communal spaces tidy, and am very receptive to feedback - you only need to tell me once or twice at most! My pet peeves include harsh downlights at night time, clutter, and overnight dishes in the sink.
I'm currently on a career break by choice - taking time to read, nurture my relationships, and enjoy having more space in my life. I'm financially secure and have an 11-year track record of on-time rent payments, so happy to share proof of funds or references if useful.
As for my profession, I usually work in Public Health project management and have experience working in medical research labs, as a professional photographer, and in leadership roles in retail. I have worked in government, universities and not-for-profit sectors.
I'm looking for a place that feels like home. Home, to me, is a safe place and moments where meaningful memories are made with great people.
