I used to be somewhat of a world traveler, studying at a liberal arts college and living in most continents (except Australia and Africa). Soon I'll be able to brag about being a true citizen of the world!

I'll be joining the quantum group at USyd's physics department as a PhD student, so I'll mostly be in office reading about obscure stuff that might be useful for the sciences. If you ever have doubts about the future of quantum computing, I'm the person to talk to. Sep 1 is the rough move-in date, I'm just posting this so anyone with a suitable offer can get in touch early.

I used to want to be a pro skater (check the video part from when I lived in Cali: and although academia turned out to be a more suitable profession, I still intend to hold on to my bag of tricks. I also picked up powerlifting as a hobby, but I'm generally interested in any form of exercise, perhaps excluding extreme cardio. I'll definitely buy a bike when I get there, and I'm used to 30+ min commutes (back in Germany it was 50min!) so distance to USyd isn't a huge issue.

I'm from China, but I've been told that my Californian English accent was misleading. I've also had roommates from most parts of the world, so communication probably won't be an issue if you're offering a shared flat.

My expectations for the accommodation are fairly simple: orderly kitchen and fridge for meal prep, decent wifi for my occasional gaming hobby (optional, since no gaming = more productivity), and generally welcoming & open minded environment. By the by, my last place was in Munich, and Sydney turned out to be one of the very very few places with even more expensive housing!
