Hey guys!

I’m Alena, 28, from Germany, currently living in Berlin and studying for my Master’s in the field of biology with the aim to work in biodiversity research later on. Starting this September I’ll be an exchange student at UNSW for one trimester!

I got years of flatshare experience to show (flatshares of 2, 4, 5 and 7 people) and wholeheartedly believe my former flatmates would say I was always a considerate, tidy and transparently communicative flatmate. Most of my time outside of uni I spent starting at my tablet (netflix, youtube etc.) or reading (nothing sophisticated; recently I enjoyed “Everyone in This Room Will Someday Be Dead” by Emily R. Austin). Here and there you’ll find me at the movies (love going to the movies!), bouldering or at the beach, sometimes even surfing (absolute kook). Every now and then I enjoy going dancing (Indie, Hip Hop, Techno) or going to concerts. On the side I will probably work as a server. I don’t really go partying often anymore. Takes too much of a toll on my body :D I’m vegan and queer, which my flatmates don’t have to be, I’m just mentioning it because I want to feel accepted at home. Other than that my interests lie in social justice and travelling.

I’m looking for a place to call my home for at least 4 months, but hopefully longer since I plan on researching and writing my master thesis in Sydney as well. Perhaps I can also move in or out a bit earliert (than Sept) or later (than e.g. Dec), but I will not arrive in Sydney before the 5th of September. So before that I will not be able to attend an inspection in person! I can offer video calls though. Location-wise I’d prefer to live no more than 45 mins from UNSW campus (Kensington), otherwise I’m flexible. At home I want to live with people that are generally kind and easy to talk to. Animals I’d even prefer because I’m a huge animal lover and won’t introduce an animal “of my own” into my life for another couple years.
