About us

Hi there!

I’m Liam, a generally optimistic, easygoing 26-year-old guy into adventures, motorsports, and photography. Joining me is my lovely girlfriend of nearly 3 years, Cho! Cho and I have been long distance for a bit over a year (we were together before that) and is moving to Melbourne from Chiang Mai, Thailand. We're looking to move around October/November.

I work in the film industry, primarily in the camera and lighting departments across TV, music videos, commercials, and more. I’m extremely passionate about what I do. I also own my own business doing film/photo equipment rentals which I operate either with a business in the city or occasionally from home.

Cho works as a cooking instructor at a cooking school in Thailand. When she comes here she’ll be looking for another job where she can cook as she’s very passionate about food, otherwise a job in hospitality or tourism as she also has experience working for hotels and tourism businesses.

I enjoy gaming occasionally, but I’m really into sim racing, which comes from my love of motorsport. If you’re into anything racing-related, I’d be keen to hang out and watch together. I’m also a motorbike rider and love a good adventure.

Cho really enjoys going on adventures outdoors and is also very passionate about fish-keeping. She’s a mean cook (naturally) so grab a plate as I’m sure she’ll be down to cook for the house sometimes. She’s a native Thai speaker and is still learning English so go easy on her.

Wherever we move, we really want to get along with the people we live with and be able to hangout. Good banter, movie nights, overly competitive mario kart, that kinda thing. Would be nice to become good friends :)

Why we make great housemates:
1. Good vibes

We keep shared spaces clean, enjoy lots of chats, but also respect downtime. Chill, respectful, and we'll do our best to vibe with the house culture.
2. We come with goodies (if wanted, but don't need to bring)
Fridge, washer and dryer, some crockery, tableware, microwave, coffee machine, leather reclining couch, coffee table, 65” TV, TV bench and a hi-fi stereo system that’ll make your Netflix nights sound awesome.
3. We're house-trained
On my end, I've had years of solo and sharehouse experience - I’ve never missed rent or bills and take pride in pulling my weight around the house. I’ve got solid rental and character references I’m happy to share. This'll be Cho's first time moving in with housemates but she's lived solo and understands the importance of respecting everyone's boundaries.
4. Pet-friendly
We love animals (especially cats)! We've lived with both cats and dogs, as well as many other pets, and we're happy to help care for them. We also have a large fish tank with super cute fish.

At the end of the day, we think being good housemates is just common sense - don’t be an ass, and communicate clearly so everyone’s on the same page. Also LGBT friendly.

Our current financial situation:
I'm working freelance in film and photography as well as running my own flim/photo equipment rentals business. I've just started this business so I'm focusing on getting clients and such, but I have an ongoing partnership with a rental house in the city as well which brings in money as a commission.

Cho is new in town so she hasn't lined up work just yet, but I'll be able to cover our costs until she's working. She's currently working as a cooking instructor over in Thailand and will be looking for a job as a chef or something else in hospitality or tourism.

- Budget: $350/week (can stretch for the right place)
- Within 35 min from the city if East, 20 min if out West or North.
- Ready to pay bond + upfront rent

A few quick things:
- We ride motorbikes (not in a silly way), so off-street parking is a big plus. Garage would be legendary. We also have a car but happy to park that on the street.
- I’d love to set up my desk or sim rig somewhere outside the bedroom if it's too small to fit, but this is flexible and totally up for discussion. Ideally the room is large enough to have everything in there.

A few quirks:
- I love tech - your house might become a smart home accidentally.
- I’m handy - HDMI not working? Strange fridge smell? Lightbulb chaos? I’m your guy.

If you think we’d get along, or you have a room (or want to team up on a lease), I’d love to hear from you.
