I am a very clean, tidy, considerate, reliable and easy-going flatmate. I’m looking for a room somewhere, or to team up with someone to rent a two-bedroom place (with me taking the larger room and paying more rent).
I'm pretty quiet most of the time. Although I'm an extrovert, it's important to me to have a space that I can retreat to when necessary, close my eyes, and not be bothered by anyone. I similarly respect the sanctity of other people's rooms. I’m actually very chatty and friendly, but I need housemates who don’t take it personally if I’m just in my room minding my own business.
I don’t categorically discriminate by age, but I do find most people around my age to be incredibly set in their ways. Almost everyone assumes from my appearance and general vibe that I’m in my thirties. At the other extreme, I’ve recently been afflicted by a 25-year housemate for whom this was her first lease, and who didn’t understand the concept of rent in advance, or basic physics like turning bowls upside-down to dry them.
I'm an excellent cook. I'm extremely capable when it comes to maintaining and repairing things. I can show you the shower I refurbished at my last place! I sew, I do my own SNS nails, I used to work in France making books by hand, etc. Various crafts.
I have a wide range of intellectual interests. I speak a dozen languages to some extent. I've lived in nine cities in five countries. I'm a triple citizen (Aus, UK, Ireland). Though very responsible and possessing great life experience, I come across as younger than my age due to my general vibe. I am very much a night owl but I don't go around making lots of noise when people are trying to sleep.
I love pets but don't have any.
I have an e-bike, so I'd need somewhere fairly safe to park it.
I'm a freelance interpreter by profession (EN—FR/ES/IT) and I also do some side-hustles for extra money, like UberEats and voice acting.
I have asthma and wouldn't be able to cope with a smoker in the house. Old carpets tend to have dustmite infestations that would make me sneeze all the time.
I need aircon.
The suburb doesn't matter much, as long as it's not too far out.
If the room isn’t large, it’s quite important that I have access to a garage to store a few boxes and my e-bike.
If you want cash-in-hand, it’s going to have to be well under $300/w. If you want more than a couple of weeks’ bond, it needs to be a proper one lodged with the RTBA.
I'm currently renting a room in Maidstone, but the other chick on the lease is very unstable and needs to go. I can’t afford to rent the whole place by myself, and no one wants to live in Maidstone, so I will most likely have to find somewhere new to live.
